Here are 5 ways to help reduce the cost of your KIIS study abroad program:
1. 1. APPLY EARLY & SAVE $100: KIIS offers all students the opportunity to save $100 by applying early. To be eligible for the $100 savings you must submit your online application and pay your $150 application fee by applicable date below:
For KIIS Fall Semester programs : March 1 (reg. deadline is March 15) For KIIS Spring Semester programs : October 1 (reg. deadline is Oct. 15)
2. KIIS SCHOLARSHIPS:
Fall Semester programs: ONE $750 scholarship for each KIIS program. Apply now
Spring Semester programs: ONE $750 scholarship for each KIIS program. Apply now
*Summer Ecuador applicants: In addition to the above $500 KIIS scholarship, Kentucky-Ecuador Partners (KEP) has generously offered to provide an additional $500 scholarship to a KIIS Ecuador program student. To apply for the KEP $500 scholarship. KIIS Ecuador applicants may apply for both the KIIS & KEP $500 scholarships.
**Spring Semester Segovia applicants: In addition to the above $750 KIIS scholarship, KIIS also offers ONE $1000 scholarship (thanks to the generosity of Javier Escobar, a loyal benefactor in Segovia, Spain) Apply now
**All students wishing to go on KIIS Semester programs may also apply for The Gilman International Scholarship
3. Most of your colleges and universities also make available to you generous study abroad scholarships that you may use on all KIIS study abroad programs. These range from a few hundred dollars to over $1000. We encourage you to apply. For specific information, please click on the link to your individual college or university and/or contact your KIIS Campus Rep.

4. YOUR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL AID: In the past, students have been able to apply most types of financial aid to a KIIS program. These include Stafford Loans, the GI Bill, and scholarships. If your scholarship or aid money will only be released after the KIIS payment deadlines, please have your campus financial aid advisor or KIIS Campus Representative send us a promissory note . It is required by KIIS.
To find out if you are eligible, contact your college or university’s financial aid office (see your school’s website). Please do so early— it will make things easier for both you and your school’s financial aid advisor.
a. Sponsorships from local Chambers of Commerce or businesses: students provide reports or worked-on-projects upon their return to the U.S.. b. Financial assistance from a local church, synagogue, mosque or community organization: students provide a chat/powerpoint presentation in exchange for some financial assistance. c. Yard Sale: gather donated items from family and friends and turn them into cash d. Auctions: using EBay and other methods, items can be sold online. e. Part-time employment: work part-time or take on a few extra hours and tuck that money away. In no time, money for study abroad has been found.
