Teaching Opportunities

The Kentucky Institute for International Studies would like to invite faculty from all KIIS member institutions to submit course proposals for its 2011 summer programs. For Summer 2011 programs, KIIS begins accepting proposals/applications on September 15, 2009. Applications to teach in Summer 2011 should be submitted no later than March 1, 2010  (late applications will only be considered for programs with faculty openings).

Applications must be approved by the faculty member's academic supervisor (Department Head/Chair) at the faculty members' home institution; please consult with your Department Head/Chair about your plans to apply to a KIIS Summer program.  We encourage you to follow up with your academic supervisor. The final selection of faculty and courses will be made by the KIIS Board of Directors at its April 2010 meeting. Faculty will be informed in early May 2010.

The major criteria for selection of courses are appropriateness to the geographic site, the academic focus of the program, and the expected level of student interest. Please click on the program links below for program descriptions, academic focus, special characteristics, and faculty benefits.  We welcome faculty from all disciplines.

Faculty members receive the following benefits: all living expenses for the duration of the program; a total of $2,000, paid as a per diem no earlier than two weeks prior to the departure of the program, and a round-trip airline ticket with the group. Should independent travel be chosen (instead of flying with the group) the faculty member will be reimbursed up to the amount of the group ticket approximately one month after the close of the program.

All faculty accepted to teach in KIIS Summer 2011 programs must attend two orientation meetings.  The first is in Lexington in September 2010 and the second is in Bowling Green in April 2011 (exact dates will be listed in the KIIS faculty contract).

Click to apply (additional instructions are provided during the online application process).  If you have any questions, please contact KIIS Programs Coordinator John Dizgun at 270-745-2256 or john.dizgun@wku.edu
